7075 T651 aluminum alloy is part of the high-strength 7xxx series aluminum alloys, and the T651 temper includes solution heat treatment, stress relieving (by stretching), and artificial aging processes. This temper is particularly preferred for thick sections to reduce internal stresses and improve dimensional stability. The 7075 alloy contains zinc (Zn) as the primary alloying element and offers very high mechanical strength.

In terms of corrosion resistance, 7075 T651 exhibits moderate performance. Although it has lower corrosion resistance compared to 5xxx series alloys (such as 5083), this can be improved with proper surface treatments (anodizing, coating). While 6061 offers more balanced corrosion resistance, 7075 can be susceptible to stress corrosion cracking; however, the T651 temper reduces this risk by relieving internal stresses.

Regarding strength and mechanical properties, 7075 T651 provides very high yield and tensile strength, significantly exceeding 6061-T6 and 2024-T3 alloys. Its high strength-to-weight ratio makes it ideal for critical structural applications. Hardness and fatigue resistance are also high, providing advantages under dynamic loading conditions.

In terms of machinability, bending, and weldability, 7075 T651 offers good machinability and delivers stable results in machining processes. However, due to its high strength, its bending capability is limited and forming operations require care. Weldability is generally poor; in this respect, 6061 is much more suitable. In terms of coatability, anodizing can be applied, although copper content may affect surface appearance.

Regarding vibration behavior and applications, 7075 T651 is widely used in aerospace, defense, tooling, and high-performance mechanical components due to its high specific strength. Typical applications include aircraft structural components, mold plates, and high load-bearing parts. While 2024 stands out for fatigue performance, 7075 offers higher static strength, and 6061 is preferred for more general and economical applications.
