The 2007 T351 aluminum alloy is a material favored in the automotive, machinery, and electronics industries due to its high machinability and medium strength. In addition to its high machinability, it is suitable for anodizing, allowing for surface treatments that enhance corrosion resistance. However, its natural corrosion resistance is moderate, which means it may not perform well in harsh environments, such as exposure to saltwater; therefore, protective coatings are recommended for extended outdoor use. The 2007 T351 alloy has limited weldability, typically relying on mechanical fastening methods for assembly. Its formability is also restricted, making it less suitable for complex shapes, and its durability in high-vibration environments is limited.
